In 2012 Andrew Tanner will launch a new Chintz design with a distinct difference. Andrew has teamed up with Jason Jameson & James Hall, from internationally award-winning animation studio
Unanico Group, and Royal Winton, to present his newest contemporary Chintz
design English Hedgerow. This collectors plate on porcelain will be
transformed into a digital art form using augmented reality.
The English Hedgerow design is truly magical. Created by referencing
flora and fauna occurring in natural English hedgerows, incorporated into
a modern Chintz style, the design is brought to life using an iOS
application (iPhone, iPod, iPad) created by Unanico Group, to generate an
augmented reality experience.
Andrew Tanner is a designer with passion and empathy for combining
traditional craft with contemporary design. Describing the English Hedgerow pattern, he explains, Working closely with the animators, we have created a surface design inspired by the English hedgerow. Amid the brambles, beech and dandelions, a bullfinch tends to its nest. As a fly buzzes in the oak and hazel, a caterpillar curls in the grass and a butterfly flutters through the hawthorn and stitchwort. Viewers of the free application will be amazed and absorbed in the reality of the experience. This collaborative project brings together the past, present and future in ceramic design.
